Tim O'Connor - Distinguished Administrative Program Specialist

After spending several years as a middle and high school teacher, I came to UW-Madison to work at Testing and Evaluation Services in the University of Wisconsin Center for Placement Testing.  I coordinate the Regional Placement Testing Program and the various services that the Center offers to other University of Wisconsin System campuses.  I work with every campus in the UW System in helping to meet their placement testing needs.

My particular area of interest is in disability related issues.  Part of my job includes recommending special accommodations for placement testing due to a disability for UW System campuses.  I have been a member of several committees at the school, campus and system levels dealing with disability related issues.  I chaired the UW System President's Advisory Committee on Disability Issues for 11 years. I have also worked on the ACCESS-ed grant project to help promote concepts of universal design in instruction . In 1999 I received the School of Education Academic Staff Distinguished Achievement Award.
