The University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Testing and Evaluation Services (T&E) is an instructional support unit located at 373 Educational Sciences Building, 1025 West Johnson Street, Madison, Wisconsin 53706.  Telephone: (608) 262-5863.

Testing and Evaluation provides the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and the University of Wisconsin System with services related to assessment and evaluation. Our office provides scanning services, scoring and statistical analysis of exams and evaluations, and administration of local and national standardized exams. Staff within the department conduct nationally recognized research on test-related topics and have an extensive record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

The University of  Wisconsin Center for Placement Testing is housed within Testing and Evaluation Services. The Center leads committees of faculty and instructional staff from various UW System campuses in developing placement tests which are used system-wide for incoming freshmen. Staff from Testing and Evaluation conduct studies to support the development of these tests and effectively use the results to place freshman into appropriate levels in math, English and foreign language courses.

Testing & Evaluation Services provides and promotes course evaluation and test development, scoring, reporting, test administration, and proctoring services that conform with best practices in the field of educational measurement.  Our office is committed to helping foster students’ successful transition to college, to improving the quality of testing and assessment across campus, and to advancing the discipline of Educational Measurement through scholarly contributions.
